Sadly this won't be an affair to remember

Its the grudge match of all time at Stamford Bridge today (Sky Sports 1, 12.45

pm) when Chelsea play Mancheste

r City. Fiercer than Keane-Vieira, more bitter than Osgood-Charl

ton (Jack, that is), and more showbiz than

Beckham-Donovan, the rift between John Terry and Wayne Bridge looks as if it will never be repaired. Per

fect that the first time these two men have been within the length of a football pitch of each other since the scandal broke should be on live TV. A shame then that this clash is absolutely guaranteed to be an anti-climax.

It can

not live up to the hype, because the two central char

acters will barely pass within 10 yards of each other all game. In this Football Star Wars, there will be precious little action between the Rebel Alliance (Wayne Bridge and City), and the Dark Side (Chelsea, led by t

he Darth Vader of celebrity

shagging, John Terry). I confidently p

redict there will be no handshake, no smack in

the mouth. Bridge has kept his dignit

y and surely wont do anything reckless now. But we can always hope.
